Nashik: Vaccination at night starts in Malegaon

NASHIK: The district administration has started the night inoculation programme in Malegaon town to increase vaccination coverage.

District collector Gangatharan D who visited Malegaon on Thursday, said the efforts are being taken to increase vaccination coverage in the town.

“The lower vaccination percentage in the town is affecting the performance of overall Nashik district. We have, therefore, stressed on carrying out the vaccination at night,” said Gangatharan D.

In Malegaon, 3.3 lakh (61% of 5.5 lakh) beneficiaries have taken the first dose and only 1.27 lakh (23.16%) have taken the second dose, so far.

Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray during the review meeting stressed on increasing the second dose of vaccination to safeguard the population against the Covid infection. “After the directions, the authorities have been asked to take every possible step to carry out vaccination in Malegaon town,” said the collector.
