Nashik: 'Focus on prevention of loss of life during disaster'

NASHIK: Additional chief secretary (home) and district guardian secretary Anand Limaye has directed Nashik district administration to be vigilant against any loss of life and property in case any disaster strikes.

In the review meeting on disaster management held at the collectorate, the guardian secretary Limaye noted that the district disaster management plan prepared by all the government agencies had taken all the possibilities into consideration and were ready to face the disaster.

“However, whenever it strikes the focus remains on rescue of the human lives, then the property. Any other preventive measures that need to be taken should also be implemented upon,” the officer said.

Divisional commissioner Radhakrishna Game, collector Gangatharan D and district heads of all the government agencies were present at the meeting.

Limaye called for coordination between the agencies at the time of floods and also to be vigilant about any developments related to the disaster – floods in monsoon and even in other times of the year.

The officer asked the authorities to take the steps related to flood mitigation at the flood prone areas even before the disaster seems to be on the horizon so that human lives were impacted least.

The officer also underlined that the water should be released through the dams in the pattern that has been followed in the past two years in the interest of the safety of one and all.
