NASHIK: District coordinator for vaccination Ganesh Misal on Monday informed that Nashik has received 19,000 doses of Covaxin.
Only Covaxin doses are being administered to the children between the age of 15 and 17. “The supply of vaccine is still on the lower side but the number is adding up at regular intervals. Since the demand for vaccine is across the country, meeting with the demand is currently a problem,” Misal said.
He, however, pointed out that there is enough stock of Covishield doses. “The district had also received 2 lakh syringes for carrying out the vaccination programme,” Misal added.
Talking about the pace of vaccination in schools, he said, “As the supply is inadequate it is difficult to step up the vaccination drive for children. As a result, only the existing number of vaccination centres will continue for now.”
The officer also added that there was no vaccine hesitancy among children and they were eager enough to get the jabs.
