NASHIK: The Deolali Cantonment Board has decided to reduce the fees it had proposed to levy upon property holders in the cantonment board area.
The sewage treatment plant (STP) set up at a cost of approximately Rs 7 crores in August 2020.
Apart from the STP, the underground sewerage scheme was also put in place to do away with the open gutters.
Last year, the cantonment board had proposed to levy an additional fee of Rs 150 per month to keep the sewage treatment system running.
However, this proposal was vehemently opposed by a section of property holders, owing to which the financial burden of the upkeep was increasing on the cantonment board.
Senior officials of the cantonment board said they would try to spread awareness among the residents on how the tax collection was important to keep the project running.
Recently a meeting was held of senior board officials where it was decided to reduce the proposed STP fee which would not be heavy on the pockets of citizens.
