Nashik: 14% more vehicles registered in 2021 than in 2020

NASHIK: The Nashik Regional Transport Office (RTO) witnessed a 14% rise in registration of new vehicles in 2021, in compariosn to the registrations in 2020.

Senior RTO officials attributed the rise to the economic recovery after the markets were hit in 2020 due to the Covid -19 pandemic.

Pradeep Shinde, RTO Nashik, said as against 72,903 vehicles that were registered with them in 2020, last year, 83,253 vehicles were registered. This is a rise of more than 14%.

Among the vehicles registered with the RTO last year, cars and two-wheelers registered accounted for 69,0501 — 14,201 cars and 55,300 motorcycles, scooters and mopeds.

Meanwhile, 62,036 cars and two-wheelers had been registered in 2020. It included 11,335 cars and 50,697 bikes, scooters and mopeds, said RTO officials.

After the Covid-19 pandemic broke out in March 2020, there was a significant drop in the number of vehicle registrations at the Nashik RTO due to the strict restrictions that were put in place.

This can be gauged from the fact that in the last three quarters (April to December) of 2019, the total registration of vehicles with the Nashik RTO was 71,587, while in the last three quarters (April to December) of 2020, the vehicle registration dropped to 43,930, a drop of a more than 38%.
