Nasdaq's Quarterly Earnings Preview: What You Need to Know

New York-based Nasdaq, Inc. (NDAQ) operates as a technology company that serves capital markets and other industries worldwide. With a market cap of $52 billion, the company operates in three segments: Capital Access Platforms, Financial Technology, and Market Services.

NDAQ is scheduled to report its Q2 earnings before the market opens on Thursday, July 24. Ahead of the event, analysts expect the company to report a profit of $0.79 per share, up 14.5% from a profit of $0.69 per share in the same quarter last year. The company has surpassed Wall Street's bottom-line estimates in each of the past four quarters, which is impressive. 

 

For the current year, analysts expect NDAQ to report an EPS of $3.20, up 13.5% from $2.82 in fiscal 2024. Moreover, the EPS is expected to rise 11.6% annually to $3.57 in FY 2026.

NDAQ stock has grown 46.6% over the past 52 weeks, outperforming the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund’s (XLF26% surge and the S&P 500 Index’s ($SPX11.7% uptick during the same time frame.

NDAQ shares rose 1.7% on April 24 after the company reported strong Q1 results. The company’s net revenue increased 11% year-over-year to $1.24 billion and surpassed the Street’s estimates, mainly driven by a growth in its solutions and financial technology segments. Moreover, its adjusted EPS for the quarter grew 24% from the prior year’s quarter to $0.79, surpassing the consensus estimates by 2.6%.

Wall Street analysts are somewhat bullish about NDAQ’s stock, with a "Moderate Buy" rating overall. Among 20 analysts covering the stock, 12 recommend "Strong Buy," three suggest a “Moderate Buy,” and five suggest a “Hold.” 

While NDAQ currently trades above its mean price target of $87.44, the Street-high target of $101 indicates a potential upswing of 14% from the current market price.
