NASCAR fans will love the Dale Earnhardt tribute planned for Talladega

The NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series will return to Talladega next month for the lone superspeedway race in the 2019 playoffs, and team owner Richard Childress announced Wednesday that the race will begin with an incredible tribute to Dale Earnhardt Sr.

Earnhardt dominated at Talladega throughout his career, with 23 career top-5s and 10 victories, both all-time records. The last win of Earnhardt’s career came at Talladega in the 2000 Winston 500, where he made a furious charge over the final five laps to take the checkered flag.

On October 13th, Childress will drive Earnhardt’s winning car to pace the field prior to the start of the 1000Bulbs.com 500.

Earnhardt’s car has remained in the RCR Museum. Childress said the car will be using the same engine from 2000, though the team did remove the tire marks from the side panels.
