NASCAR driver Ryan Ellis was quite confused after the Flyers traded for a player with the same name

It’s one thing to share your name with a famous athlete if you’re a regular person. It’s another thing entirely to share your name with a famous athlete if you’re another athlete.

That’s the conundrum NASCAR driver Ryan Ellis found himself in after his name twin Ryan Ellis of the Nashville Predators was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday. Ellis, the NASCAR driver, found out on Twitter mere minutes after the trade was announced, prompting a hilarious sequence of tweets from dismay to disappointment.

Here’s how NASCAR driver Ellis first found out about his name twin’s trade to Philadelphia, in the form of a hilarious tweet.

This isn’t the first time the two have interacted either, as both met one another at a Predators game back in 2017 after it was revealed that they share the same middle name of James too. Here are some of Ellis’ best tweets after learning of his new fate as the premier defenseman of the Flyers for the foreseeable future.
