NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr miraculously survives fireball plane crash

NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr and his family have miraculously escaped without serious injury from a terrifying plane crash.

Earnhardt Jr, his wife Amy and daughter Isla were on board the racing superstar's private jet when it crashed at a local airport in Tennessee.

Images showed the plane engulfed in flames but fire chief Barry Carrier and Carter County Sheriff Dexter Lunceford confirmed no-one on board had suffered serious injuries.

Also on the plane were two pilots and the family dog.

Earnhardt Jr is believed to be the only person taken to hospital with injuries described as cuts and abrasions.

His sister Kelley wrote on Twitter : "I can confirm Dale, Amy & Isla along with his two pilots were involved in a crash in Bristol TN this afternoon.

"Everyone is safe and has been taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
