NASA astronaut shares stunning image of Dublin from International Space Station

A NASA astronaut has shared a stunning image of Dublin all the way from space.

The image was taken from the Endeavour window on the International Space Station by Shane Kimbrough as it glided over the Emerald Isle.

Kimbrough, a retired United States Army officer, and current NASA astronaut, has been sharing images from around the world over recent days, but says Dublin is one of his 'favourite cities.'

On Monday night, he took to Twitter with the epic snap and wrote:

"One of my favourite cities – Dublin, Ireland! Look forward to seeing all of my friends there next year. Slàinte!"

Kimbrough is part of the Expedition 65 crew, which began its mission in April 2021, and is due to return to Earth later this month.

The 54-year-old has gathered over 116,000 followers for his regular updates from space, and over the last week has shared images across Spain, Egypt, France and many more.

It's not the first time he's shared images of Ireland online either - back in July he reminisced about a trip to Cork and posted an aerial photo of the city alongside the caption:

"Great memories in the lovely city of Cork, Ireland! Blackrock Castle Observatory (near the centre of the photo) was first built as a fort in 1582, with the purpose of discouraging pirates & invaders along the River Lee & Lough Mahon."
