A drunk driver allegedly tried to outrun police and ended up ploughing into a house

Four people were at home when the car crashed into the Carlisle house.

A house in Perth's inner suburbs has been badly damaged after a 23-year-old driver lost control of her car and smashed through a wall, moments after allegedly failing to stop for police.

Police said officers from Cannington were on patrol when they spotted a car travelling at high speed and weaving across Shepperton Road in Victoria Park around 2:20am this morning.

Officers unsuccessfully tried to get the driver to stop by activating their siren and emergency lights before seeking authorisation to start a pursuit.

But before that could be granted, the driver lost control and crashed into the front of a house on the corner of Oats and Jupiter streets in Carlisle.

Four people were inside the home at the time, one of whom received minor injuries from a dislodged brick.

Police said the home was extensively damaged.

The driver of the car, a woman from Mount Hawthorn, was charged with having a blood alcohol reading in excess of 0.05, failing to stop and reckless driving.

She will appear in court later this month.
