Narcs detail arrests, seizures this month

Narcotics suppression police have arrested 17 drug suspects in six cases so far in September, and seized over 12 million methamphetaminepills, 850 kilogrammes of marijuana and more than 48,000 bottles of refill liquid for e-cigarettes.

Pol Gen Manu Mekmok, deputy national police chief, and Narcotics Suppression Bureau chief Pol Lt Gen Montri Yimyaem on Wednesday jointly announced the arrests and seizures. 

One major case involved the arrest of four drug suspects and seizure of 8 million meth pills in Uttaradit province, Pol Gen Manu said.

NSB police swooped on a love hotel in Nam Pad district of the northern province and found the pills inside a room. Chotiphat Kinglookinchaiyaporn, 38, of Samut Prakan, who stayed in the room, was arrested. The arresting team subsequently caught three other men involved in the smuggling of 8 million meth pills.

The three other suspects were Kengchai Somngam, 39, of Nakhon Phanom; Ekkapong Ekcharoen, 38, of Bangkok and Amphon Phopradit, 39, of Samut Prakan, Pol Gen Manu said.

Another major case involve the arrest of Anuphon Yommana, 35. He was caught while trying to smuggle 560 kilogrammes of compressed marijuana on Bung Kan-Nong Khai Road.   

Policearrested another suspect, Kongpai Saengmuang, 24, after 290kg of compressed marijuana were found in his pickup truck in front of an NGV station in Sikhiu district of Nakhon Ratchasima, the deputy national police chief said. 

In Chumphon province. Zulkiflee Mamareng, 27, and Niyudee Pajusala, 34, both from Narathiwat, were held after NSB police found 48,600 bottles of e-cigarette refill, worth about 7 million baht, in their two pickup trucks, Pol Gen Manu said.
