TIRUPATI: Telugu Desam party's national general secretary Nara Lokesh released documents related to what he alleged as former YSRCP minister Gummanur Jayaram's land scam involving 180 acres of commercial land located at Aspari mandal in Kurnool district.
On the sidelines of his ongoing Yuvagalam padayatra at Alur in Kurnool district, Nara Lokesh alleged that "Gummanur Jayaram- the Benz minister had grabbed 180 acres of prime land belonging to Ittina company. Though the lands grabbed by the ex-minister were commercial in nature, they were shown as agricultural lands and later registered in the names of the family members of Gummanur Jayaram".
The TDP's former minister who released several documents to substantiate his allegations, also pointed out that while the actual value of the lands grabbed was approximately Rs.45 crore, Gummanur Jayaram undervalued the lands at just Rs.2 crore as the government rate.
Pointing out that Gummanur Jayaram and his family members grossly violated the land ceiling Act, Nara Lokesh added that the former YSRCP minister's case clearly falls under the purview of the IT benami Act for action.
Rubbishing off the former YSRCP minister's clarification on the issue that he bought Ittina lands through the income generated from his family lands, the TDP national secretary wondered why the same never got reflected in Gummanur Jayaram's election affidavit.
Nara Lokesh challenged Gummanur Jayaram to clarify why Manjunath who sold away the Ittina lands to him cancelled the sale-deed and challenged the YSRCP former minister to stick to his word of getting the Ittina lands registered in the name of local farmers if they came forward and offered government rates.
