Napoli have reportedly rejected an £80million bid from Real Madrid for defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
Koulibaly is in demand and is firmly on the radar of Manchester United as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prioritises the arrival of a top-class centre-half this summer.
Jose Mourinho failed in his bid to land Koulibaly for the Red Devils last summer before ultimately being sacked in December for overseeing the club's worst-ever start to a Premier League season.
Koulibaly and Matthijs de Ligt are the two names most heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in the off-season - but Barcelona are heavy favourites to land the Ajax defender - meaning Koulibaly is probably a more likely signing.
And, according to reports in Italy, those hopes have been further boosted by Napoli snubbing an approach from Los Blancos.
Koulibaly's release clause for foreign clubs stands at around £132million, though United will hope to land him for considerably less should they firm up their interest with a bid.
The 27-year-old joined Napoli from Genk in 2014 for a fee of just £6.5million.
He has gone on to make 206 appearances in Naples, scoring 10 goals.
Koulibaly helped Napoli to the Italian Super Cup shortly after arriving and also had success in the Belgian Cup with Genk in 2013.
The Senegalese international has 32 caps for his country and was voted the best defender in Serie A in 2018-19.
He has also been named in the Serie A team of the year on three occasions.
