Napoli president makes £110m bid admission over Man City target Kalidou Koulibaly

Aurelio De Laurentiis admits he regrets not selling Kalidou Koulibaly sooner.

The commanding Napoli centre-back has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester City this summer, with De Laurentiis admitting the player can leave if his asking price is met.

Yet Napoli are unlikely to get as good a price for Koulibaly as an offer they have already turned down previously.

The 29-year-old has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, with City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool all credited with interest in him at different points over the last two years.

De Laurentiis has now revealed that he has previously rejected a £110m offer for the Senegal international.

He told Claudio Russo : "From now on when there are important offers we will all sell, I understand that Italy does not guarantee anything to anyone.

"The fans and I have to live for the day, that's what they ask of us.

"I was incorrect not to sell Koulibaly for £110 million."

The admission comes after De Laurentiis earlier said that Koulibaly, along with teammate Arkadiusz Milik, will both depart Napoli this summer as long as their valuations are met.

He told Canale 21, via Football Italia : "Koulibaly and Milik are both on their way out, transfer market permitting.

"So, if the transfer market allows us to sell these two excellent players, we know how to replace them.

"If not, then we'll discuss it again next year."

One player identified as a potential replacement for Koulibaly is Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos, with De Laurentiis confirming Napoli's interest in the 32-year-old.
