Napoli owner instructs team on how to defeat Liverpool in Champions League

Napoli are looking to emulate their Champions League home win against Liverpool in 2018, when the two sides meet this Tuesday.

And Gli Azzurri owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has instructed his team on how to overcome the reigning champions.

It is the second consecutive season the Reds have drawn the Serie A outfit in the group stage of the competition.

Both ties last season were close encounters with Napoli securing a 1-0 win at San Paolo stadium thanks to a late winner from Lorenzo Insigne.

Liverpool then recorded a 1-0 triumph when the two sides met in the all or nothing Group C finale in December.

Mohamed Salah scored the only goal of the game as Alisson produced a save of the season to keep out Arkadiusz Milik late on as the Reds booked their place in the knockout phase.

The Group E opponents also met in a pre-season friendly back in August and the Italians were 3-0 victors at Murrayfield.

And Napoli owner, De Laurentiis, has revealed what he thinks Carlo Ancelotti's side must do to repeat the winning formula.

"Liverpool? We beat the Reds in a friendly with a wide margin, but I wouldn’t want [that] to give our people some peace of mind," He told Sky Italia.

"We must enter the field very angry, very concentrated as if we were playing the game of the year.

"Because every game must be the match of the year, only in this way can we reach goals."

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool will host Newcastle United at Anfield on Saturday, before making the journey to Naples to begin defence of their Champions League title this Tuesday.
