Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret's agent breaks silence amid Chelsea and Man United transfer links

The agent of Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret has played down the chances of a permanent exit this summer but has admitted a loan move is an option.

Chelsea have been attributed with an interest in the 23-year-old in their hunt to find a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga, while Manchester United are also said to be in the running.

Meret has impressed in Naples last season but has shared first-team responsibilities with former Arsenal stopper David Ospina, limiting his starts.

However, while a temporary exit from the Italian side could be on the cards in the hunt for first-team football, Federico Pastorello has played down the chances of a permanent exit.

“Going from Udinese to Napoli [in 2018], he made a big decision," Pastorello told Italian broadcaster Rai Sport.

“Our contact with Napoli has been constant, but someone at his age needs to play. We are willing to go out on loan to play, if necessary.”

Frank Lampard is ready to axe Arrizabalaga ahead of the new season and a wealth of names have been linked with a transfer to Stamford Bridge.
