Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti furious at state of San Paolo dressing rooms ahead of Liverpool's visit

Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti has released a statement condemning the state of the dressing rooms at the Stadio San Paolo ahead of Liverpool's visit.

The Reds are set to travel to Naples for their Champions League Group E opener on Tuesday - and the Italian coach is "shocked" at the "incompetence of the people in charge of the work".

Gli Azzurri were forced to play their opening two Serie A fixtures away from home while renovation work - which began during the summer - was carried out.

But according to Ancelotti the reconstruction work is still not completed, and the former AC Milan and Chelsea manager has slammed those in charge.

A statement on the club's official website read: "I have seen the state of the dressing rooms at the San Paolo. There are no words.

"I accepted the club’s request to play the first two games away from home to allow the work to be finished, as was promised.

"You can build a house in two months, but they weren’t capable of renovating the dressing rooms! Where are we supposed to get changed for the games against Sampdoria and Liverpool?

"I’m shocked at the incompetence of the people in charge of the work. How could the Region, Municipality and Commissioners fail to respect the commitments that were made?

"It smacks of disregard and a lack of a bond with the city’s team. I’m dismayed,” Ancelotti concluded.

The council in Naples have reportedly responded to the statement reassuring those at the club that the work will be completed ahead of Sampdoria's visit this weekend.

According to CalcioNapoli24 a local councillor said: "I state that the commitment is from the Region, but I also did the inspection and saw that, apart from a few doors to be registered and some shelves to be assembled, the rest is all right.

"On Saturday Napoli will get changed regularly in its refurbished dressing room."
