Napoli ace Kim Min-jae's agent responds to Manchester United transfer speculation

Napoli defender Kim Min-jae's agent has rubbished ongoing speculation suggesting that Manchester United are advancing with a deal to sign the South Korean international.

United, who will be looking to take another giant stride towards securing Champions League qualification when they face Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday, have been heavily linked with signing the centre-back in recent weeks. The Reds could move for a new central-defender in this forthcoming summer's transfer window in the event of either Harry Maguire or Victor Lindelof leaving the club.

Kim is widely considered as one of the most sought-after centre-backs in Europe at this moment in time after a stellar debut campaign with Napoli. He joined the newly crowned Italian champions from Turkish side Fenerbahce last summer and has enjoyed a terrific maiden campaign at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

According to a report published by Italian news outlet II Matino earlier this week, it was claimed that United were making progress with a deal to sign the 26-year-old, suggesting that intermediaries involved in discussions had been able to convince Kim to join the Old Trafford outfit. His agent, however, has played down such claims, insisting the defender is focused on nothing but finishing the season as strongly as possible with Napoli.

"The transfer to Manchester United is not true," the Napoli defender's agent told Star News. "Currently, Kim Min-jae is focusing on finishing the season.

"In the case of the English Premier League, the qualification to the Champions League or the final standings have not been decided. There is no need to move."
