A woman was killed in a crash Tuesday in west suburban St. Charles.
Authorities responded about 7:50 a.m. to the 400 block of South Kirk Road for reports of a crash with injuries, St. Charles police said.
Moira Simpson, 60, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. She lived in Naperville.
An investigation determined Moira was northbound on Kirk Road in a silver-colored Volkswagen Beetle when she crossed over into the southbound lanes, sideswiped a Mercedes and crashed head-on with a semitrailer, police said.
The driver of the Mercedes and another person in the car were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said. The driver of the semi was treated and released at the scene.
St. Charles police are investigating.
