Naomi Osaka gets new personal trainer

Yutaka Nakamura, a former trainer for Russia's Maria Sharapova and Japan's Kei Nishikori, has become a personal trainer for Naomi Osaka, Osaka's management agency told The Yomiuri Shimbun on Thursday.

Nakamura has been a member of Osaka's team since June.

Nakamura coached Nishikori at the IMG Academy in Florida when he was a junior tennis player. From 2011 to 2018, he also served as a personal trainer for Sharapova, a former No. 1 in the WTA rankings who retired earlier this year.
