Naomi Campbell has opened up about the awkward first encounter she ever had with Paris Hilton as the young socialite stole the spotlight at one of her parties.
The 49-year-old supermodel is now a firm friend of 39-year-old Paris, however their first meeting almost got off to a very bad start.
Speaking on her YouTube series No Filter with Naomi, the British model discussed her first meeting with the reality star at one of her raucous birthday celebrations.
Fellow guests were outraged to see a young socialite dancing on the tables and trying to steal all of the attention, and dashed over to alert the iconic model.
“This was the scene, everyone. Everyone comes tells me, ‘there’s this girl she’s trying to take over your party… she’s, like, on the table’,” Naomi explained as she and Paris discussed the first time they met.
“I’m like, ‘On the table? No. Let me see.’ So I go over there and I see Paris on the table and I looked at her, and I said ‘I love her’. That’s it. And I’ve loved her ever since,” the supermodel revealed.
Paris then claimed: “I invented dancing on tables,” before gushing: “That was such an epic night. All of your birthdays are always so epic but that was my first birthday with you.”
As the pair continued chatting, Naomi suggested that Paris is a lot more tame than most people think.
“People don’t know the real Paris Hilton and I feel that I do,” the catwalk icon said.
“When most people feel that Paris is drinking another glass of champagne, let me tell you it’s not champagne - it’s ginger ale,” she said, practically ruining Paris’ well known party lifestyle.
Paris herself also attempted to rein in the image that she is a simple airhead.
“It definitely all came about with 'The Simple Life’, just creating this character, because it was one of the first reality shows and the producers told me they wanted me to play up this character of a spoilt airhead,” she said.
“It was my first show, I had never been on TV before. I had no idea what to expect. And so I had to continue doing this character for five seasons because I had no idea the show would go on for so long,” she continued.
“So I think that people assume that’s who I am in real life, when I’m quite the opposite,” she added.
