Nanny shares parenting hack to soothe babies and put them to sleep in seconds

A nanny has shared a life-changing hack that soothes babies and puts them to sleep in seconds - and it's so simple you could master it today.

Danielle Manton-Kelly, a mother of four, shared the video on TikTok after being shown a way to hold her youngest child, William, that makes him much more comfortable.

She was shown the technique by an osteopath, named Lucy, and it consists of standing with the baby in your arms and gently moving their legs around.

Lucy said that this aids the baby's digestion leaving him more comfortable, and shortly after she starts the baby can be seen smiling before appearing to doze off to sleep.

Lucy said you have to simulate movement while holding the baby (TikTok)

In the video, Lucy said: "What you see an awful lot of is people polishing their babies’ tummy, but that does absolutely nothing."

She can be seen holding William, who lays face down in her hands, while she moves his body in a clockwise direction - saying that this simulates movement.

She then coninues: “If the tummy doesn’t have movement, then the milk gets a chance to sit and move too slowly through there, and then it can ferment and produce wind in their tummy and that then is painful.

“By just lifting up here and doing a figure of eight you’re stretching that side and you’re stretching that side.”

William was so relaxed he seemed to fall asleep in Lucy's arms (TikTok)

As she continues the movement, baby William can be seen almost smiling before his eyes grow heavy with relaxation as Danielle says "I’ve never seen him stretch out like that – that’s amazing".

Since it was uploaded, the video has been viewed almost two million times, had over 150,000 likes and around a thousand comments.

One user, named Elle, said: "He's so content."

While a second added: "Can someone do this to me please? I ain't been relaxed for 28 years."

And a third user added: "Man, I wish I'd known this four years ago."

Danielle runs her own website, where she offers advice and help to parents, called The Enchanted Nanny
