Popular food chain Nandos has re-opened one of its Dublin outlets this week but not to the public.
The restaurant will be providing free meals to HSE staff and key workers at local charities during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Freshly prepared meals will be delivered to hospitals every evening between 6pm and 9pm.
In total the restaurant chain has re-opened seven of its outlets in the UK and Ireland including four in London, two in Manchester, and one in Dublin.
A Nandos spokesperson said: “The initiative is part of Nando’s longstanding commitment to make our restaurants important parts of every community and with that in mind any spare food left at the end of the day will be donated to charity through Nando’s No Chuckin’ our Chicken initiative, which has donated more than 1.5 million meals since it started in 2013.
“Under normal circumstances every single Nando’s restaurant works with a unique charity, over 420 across the UK and Ireland, supporting all kinds of causes, including youth, homelessness, refugees, and women and family shelters.
“Knowing how much happiness PERi-PERi can bring, the Nando’s team were itching to get back behind the grills to help as many people as possible during the lockdown.”
