Nando's reopens six restaurants in UK operating delivery service

Nando’s has begun operating a delivery service to the public from six reopened restaurants across the UK.

The chicken chain was forced to close its doors on 23 March due to the ongoing lockdown.

Since 20 April, Nando’s has been cooking up PERi-PERi chicken for charities and NHS staff working near its sites in London, Manchester and Dublin.

But on Monday, the hugely popular Portuguese-themed restaurant announced that it has reopened six sites for delivery only to the general public.

These include:

  • London, Clink St
  • London, Camberwell
  • London, Canary Jubilee
  • London, Gloucester Road
  • Manchester, Fallowfield
  • Manchester, Printworks

The six restaurants will be operating on a reduced delivery menu via delivery service Deliveroo. They will not be offering an eat-in or collection service, a spokesperson for Nando’s said.

“Unfortunately, PERi-PERi fans in other parts of the UK and Ireland will have to wait a little longer before they get their Nando’s fix [...]

“But if this first phase of the re-opening is successful then more restaurants will follow suit and open back up to deliver PERi-PERi goodness right to your door very soon,” the spokesperson added.

Nando’s says it is working under Public Health England guidelines to enforce strict hygiene practices.

Each restaurant team will continue to cook meals every shift for local charities and NHS workers as part of Nando’s “No Chuckin Our Chicken” campaign.

Staff will also work with Deliveroo to make sure that deliveries are safe and Deliveroo drivers will maintain social distancing while waiting to pick up orders.

Nando’s previously pledged to donate 250 meals per day to hospitals located near its reopened sites.  The chain says it has already served over 10,000 meals to charities and key workers.

Last week, the chicken chain announced that it will be hosting a “Cook-along” via Instagram live that will feature a host of famous faces.
