Nancy Pelosi, one of the most powerful women in the United States, quivered like a schoolgirl in front of a bored-looking Brad Pitt at the US capital yesterday.
The speaker, the movie star and South Carolina congressman James Clyburn met to discuss relief Pitt's hurricane relief efforts in Louisiana.
In brief remarks later, Pelosi claimed "bragging rights" before her children and my grandchildren, and said the meeting was "a real treat for me as well".
She said that the "Benjamin Button" star is a "a real hero for the people of New Orleans and a real model for the country".
Pitt then thanked Pelosi for giving him a forum to talk about his relief efforts, and said "we have a model that works".
Clyburn said: "I did not realise when the speaker asked me to chair the katrina-rita task force that it would lead to my getting in a position to make my grandchildren so envious of me".
