State-owned Transport Co will introduce a minibus service between Nan and Luang Prabang next month.

General manager Jeerasak Yaowatsakul said the new minibus service starting on Oct 1 would take about eight hours on a 373-kilometre route.

The fare is set at 660 baht and passengers are required to show passports or temporary border passes for those who travel within 80km from the Thai-Lao border, he added.

The 21-seater runs every other day, leaving Nan at 8am and departing Laos' old capital at the same time the following day.

The new line will bring the total Thai-Lao services to 13. Transport Co also provides service to Cambodia and plans to expand its reach to Vietnam.
