Nan 'felt sick' after lake trip until stranger stepped in

A nan was stunned by the actions of strangers while on a trip with her grandchildren.

The nan had taken her grandchildren to the popular beauty spot Carr Mill Dam, in St Helens on June 17. Upon returning home, she realised she had lost her phone and her bank cards due to a hole in the pram's netting.

As panic began to set in, she claims she felt "sick". However, a kind stranger had found her phone and cards and handed them into a nearby pub.

The grateful nan took to Facebook to share her thanks. In a post she said: "I lost my phone today. I took my grandchildren to feed the ducks at Car Mill I got back for 12pm I realised I hadn't got my phone, when I looked at the pram there was a big hole in the net.

"I started to panic as my daughter lives in Yorkshire and I couldn't phone her as I had no idea of her mobile number. So I decided to go back out to Carr Mill Dam and see if I could find it, I just crossed over the road when a guy in a white van said he recognised me and asked had I lost a phone, he said he had handed it in to the pub.

"I had all my bank cards in there and my bus pass. Just want to say a big thank you. I was feeling sick at the thought of losing it, didn't think I would see it again. I had just about given up from there being lovely honest people out there. From the bottom of my heart thank you. I hope he reads my message and knows how grateful I am."
