The manager candidates in the frame as Newcastle make Steve Bruce sack decision after takeover

Newcastle United could soon be on the lookout for a new manager following their £300m takeover last week.

It is expected that current boss Steve Bruce will be let go by the Saudi-backed consortium, with the new owners thought to be bringing their own man into St James’ Park.

It remains quite when to be seen that the former defender will leave the club - and indeed when his successor will be installed at the helm - but there are already a number of names linked with the potential vacancy, including those who may well be known to fans of the Premier League.

football.london takes a look at selected current candidates who could well be in charge sooner rather than later. All odds are courtesy SkyBet.

Lucien Favre: 11/4

Previously of Borussia Dortmund, the Swiss is currently the most fancied to potentially be taking the reins in the north East.

He is hugely experienced having enjoyed spells in Switzerland, France and Germany. Favre racked up a respectable 61% win percentage during his time with Dortmund so will hope to use that if he indeed is handed an opportunity by Newcastle.

Antonio Conte: 11/2

A very well known name to Chelsea fans, the Italian led the club to the Premier League and the FA Cup before he left in somewhat acrimonious circumstances.

He has since led Inter Milan to the Serie A crown, leaving the club after two seasons, and was close to being appointed as the new Tottenham coach this summer.

Conte would certainly be an ambitious appointment by the Magpies’ new owners.

Roberto Martinez: 7/1

Another to have enjoyed a highly successful spell in England, Martinez enjoyed periods with Wigan Athletic and Everton - winning the FA Cup with the former.

Since leaving Merseyside, he has been in charge of the Belgian national team, establishing the Red Devils as a formidable force on the international stage.

Having failed to win a trophy though, he could potentially be tempted by a return to the Premier League.

Brendan Rodgers: 12/1

Another with previous Chelsea links, Rodgers is hugely experienced in the English top-flight after spells with Swansea City, Liverpool and current club Leicester City.

It has been reported that the Magpies could consider Rodgers but it would be tough to prise him out of the King Power Stadium with a number of years remaining on his contract.

Frank Lampard: 20/1

A somewhat left-field choice, Lampard has been out of work since leaving Chelsea in January.

He would be relatively easy to appoint considering the lack of compensation but his relatively small amount of experience in a managerial capacity could potentially count against him.

Of the 57 games he has presided over in the Premier League, the 43-year-old has won 28 of those.

Here are the full odds:

Lucien Favre - 11/4

Antonio Conte - 11/2

Roberto Martinez - 7/1

Steven Gerrard - 7/1

Eddie Howe - 9/1

Graham Potter - 9/1

Brendan Rodgers - 12/1

Graeme Jones - 14/1

Zinedine Zidane - 14/1

Frank Lampard - 20/1
