Nakhon Si Thammarat crafts take centre stage

Craft lovers are invited to witness the unique craftworks of Nakhon Si Thammarat during "Creative Nakhon 5" which will take place daily from 10am to 9pm starting Thursday until Sunday. The venue is the vibrant Bovorn Nakhon, formerly Bovorn Bazaar, in Tha Wang area, Muang district of Nakhon Si Thammarat.

Held under the theme "Craftaholic" by the Creative Nakhon group in collaboration with the Nakhon Si Thammarat Tourist Business Association, this is the 5th edition of the art festival which aims to enliven the vitality of the famous old town in this Southern province.

The festival will showcase the pride, creativity and local wisdom of the artists and villagers who fuse their craftsmanship with design to come up with contemporary works that are presented at five exhibitions.

The "Local Creative" will feature contemporary handicrafts inspired by local craftsmanship. The "Craft Master" will bring exceptional pieces from nationally-renowned brands such as Yothaka, Touchable, Korakot, AmoArte and Kitt.ta.khon. They highlight their contemporary and creative perspectives that cater to the demands of the international market.

The "Young Creative" is a dedicated craft space that gathers works by talented students from five institutes in the province who convey the essence of creativity from the new generation.

The "Jewelry Design by GIT" is a captivating zone showcasing 13 exquisite jewellery collections by the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT). They are designed under the concept of "Southern Charm" initiated by entrepreneurs in four southern provinces.

Shedding light on the craft network in the province, the "Craft Network & Market" will showcase diverse artisan contexts from many areas across the province, emphasising the importance of cooperation in strengthening the artisan ecosystem for the future.

There will also be workshops on krajood basketry, beadwork, tie-dyeing and manorah dance; as well as craft talks with experts, craft masters and veteran architects.

Running every evening from 5pm will be a craft market where over 30 shops will be offering local handicrafts, artisanal creations and local delicacies. Also, expect to chill out with a live performance of jazz and blues music.
