Naked muddy toddler found wandering Oxford streets on his own by concerned midwife

A midwife described the concerning moment she found a naked and muddy toddler wandering Oxford on his own.

Natalie Madeleine said she saw a big crowd gathered in the city centre around 2pm on Sunday.

She went to check if it was a medical emergency but instead saw a "butt naked, barefoot" child wandering the streets alone.

Quick-thinking Natalie said she dressed the little boy in her jumper and then put him in her car while police arrived.

She said: "I was driving from Blackbird Leys and saw a big crowd on the street, so I stopped to check if a person had collapsed.

"But then I saw the poor little boy and instantly checked whether he was hurt. He did not seem physically hurt but had a lot of dirt on his face.

"It was very bizarre - he was wandering completely on his own and I just hope he is okay."

Natalie said she asked the toddler for his name and address but he did not reply.

She added: "I do not even know if he knew English as he did not speak a word. He seemed very disorientated."

Police then reportedly arrived around 15 minutes later and put the toddler in their van.

Mirror Online has contacted Thames Valley Police for comment.
