Naked man battered in Paisley bedroom bust-up

A Celtic fan clubbed his love rat pal after finding him in bed with his girlfriend during his side’s double-treble party.

Shaun Bielby, 51, battered married Allan Davey, 57, with a piece of wood after catching him with his partner of 10 years.

At a trial at Paisley Sheriff Court, Bielby admitted attacking his former friend, but denied turning on his ex.

Davey told how he was pummelled after he was discovered lying naked next to Yvonne Kearney, 54.

He said: “I was woken up by, what I now realise was, a blow to the head.

“Then, the next four to five minutes was a serious of blows to the head, the body, the arm and the back.

“I was trying to protect myself from the blows that were raining down on me.

“I noticed I had blood running down my face. It was substantial injuries.

“There was quite a lot of blood running down my face and down my body.

“Yvonne was in quite a lot of distress.

“I was covered in a lot of blood.

“I had bruises on my chest and bruises where I’d put my arms up to protect
myself.”

Bielby had been drinking and watching the game with Davey and Kearney.

But he left the pub to go home and left his girlfriend of a decade with his pal.

Almost 800 Renfrewshire motorists nabbed without insurance

They ended up at another flat after watching the football last May 19.

Bielby went looking for his partner at Davey’s brother’s home in Paisley’s Whitehaugh Avenue .

He lost the plot after finding her in bed with his mate.

He grabbed a piece of wood lying in the hall.
The spurned boyfriend then bludgeoned the man until he was left “covered in blood” and “looking like a zombie”.

The victim needed nine stitches to close a head wound and has permanent
scarring.

Bielby admitted the attack on Davey, but denied a charge he had attacked the
woman.

The lothario admitted he might have slept with her.

Davey also told how he lied to police that he was attacked in the living room because he did not want his wife to find out.

He added: “I don’t recall, but I can’t rule it out because of the alcohol.

“I didn’t think it was a good situation to be going back to my wife and having to
explain.

“As a married man, I was painting a picture that would’ve probably been better than the factual events.”

Kearney admitted the pair had been intimate and claimed her then boyfriend had attacked her with the wood.

Bielby received a not proven verdict over claims he attacked the woman.

Sheriff Seith Ireland warned he would be dealt with sternly for the assault on his former friend.

He said: “At the end of the day, somebody ended up being seriously assaulted.

“It may well be there are some extenuating circumstances.

“Your solicitor will ask me to take them into consideration.

“You seriously assaulted this man and left him with permanent disfigurement.

“That is a serious matter.”

The court heard Bielby moved to Hull after splitting with his former partner.

He has been ordered to return for sentencing next month.
