'Naked' GMB guest left 'scrabbling to get dressed for interview' mocked by Piers Morgan

Piers Morgan mercilessly mocked a Good Morning Britain guest for their late appearance on the programme today, quipping that they had been "naked" and "scrabbling to get dressed" when they had first tried to contact them.

Journalist Andrew Pierce had been due to join Piers and co-star Susanna Reid to speak about the day's news.

However, Andrew had disappeared when his fellow guests appeared on the programme and Piers explained what had happened.

"We'll be shortly joined by the Mail's Andrew Pierce, who was last seen scrabbling to get dressed after what we think was a slightly late start this morning in his house," Piers said.

A couple of minutes later, they were joined by the guest and Piers welcomed him to the programme with a laugh.

"Caught on the hot this morning?" Piers asked with a smirk.

"No, just a technical hitch," Andrew insisted.

"I was told it involved you with no clothes on, is that right?" Piers remarked.

"No," Andrew replied. "I sleep in my pyjamas, Piers."

Meanwhile Piers helpfully pointed out that he liked to sleep in the nude.

Earlier, Piers claimed that he has been "bombarded" with emails from Donald Trump pleading for support.

The 55-year-old presenter yesterday admitted that he had received an email saying that he "needs him not more than ever".

Co-host Susanna pointed out that it was "creepy" and that she wouldn't have opened it.

"It sounds like a scam!" Susanna quipped.

"The sheer volume that I've had from him and his team," Piers agreed. "These automated emails to his 'supposed' supporters has been a literal bombardment over the last week.

"It shows me that they're panicking, they must be panicking [as] I've never had it before.

"So there's a real battle now. We've got 130 odd days until election and there's a general sense in America [that] they just can't cope with four more years of Trump.

"It's just so exhausting! And of course all of the reasons he was doing well in all of the polls in January have disintegrated.

"The economy's disintegrated, the public health crisis is exploding..."

"There's more division," Susanna supplied, referring to the death of George Floyd and the subsequent protests.

"All of the things that were going for him have collapsed," Piers continued. "It's a perilous time for the incumbent president to get re-elected.

"I think it's going to be very close."
