Najee Goode to start at weak-side LB over Quincy Williams

The absence of cornerback Jalen Ramsey isn’t the only shakeup to occur to the Jacksonville Jaguars’ roster Week 6 as the team will be benching weak-side Quincy Williams. The team announced that veteran Najee Goode would be starting in the rookie’s spot instead, as he’s struggled to find his way through the Jags’ first five games.

The decision to bench Williams is one in which most fans aren’t on board with for the simple fact that they understood it would be a process for the rookie, who is making a big transition from playing at Murray State to playing on the professional level. However, something to consider is the fact that defensive coordinator Todd Wash may feel that he’s on the hot seat after last week’s performance against the Carolina Panthers. With the New Orleans Saints and offensive guru Sean Payton coming into town, Wash may feel that having a veteran in Williams’ place is the best move, but ultimately time will tell.

Williams was one of the Jags’ third-round selections of April’s draft. Despite missing the preseason due to having a procedure to fix a meniscus injury, he started in the team’s first five games and managed to accumulate 31 tackles in the process.
