Luka Milivojevic has called on “naive” Crystal Palace to become more clinical in front of goal and learn to kill games.
The Eagles were stunned by an injury-time Neal Maupay equaliser at Selhurst Park last night, as rivals Brighton snatched a 1-1 draw after being dominated by Palace for the majority of the night.
Wilfried Zaha put the Eagles ahead from the penalty spot after a first half in which they completely controlled proceedings, with Conor Gallagher particularly impressive in midfield.
Patrick Vieira’s side remained on the front foot in the second half but could not find a second to extend their advantage, with Jordan Ayew firing wide from close range.
Palace dropped deep in the closing minutes and a late lapse saw Maupay move in behind the back line and lob Vicente Guaita.
“We’ve been dominant for most of the game but we had chances to score the second and finish it,” said Milivojevic. “When you don’t convert your chances you can be punished. We put a lot of pressure on them, took the ball high up the pitch, which is something we want to do, but we should be more clinical.
“We can be happy with how we performed, but football has to be played until the last second. We had our chances to kill the game. We were a bit naive.”
