Nailsea School confirms coronavirus case and tells year group to stay home

Students at Nailsea School have been forced into isolation - after a fellow pupil tested positive for coronavirus.

School leaders were made aware yesterday afternoon (Monday, December 7) that a student in year 10 had tested positive for the virus.

The year 10 bubble has now been told to isolate for 14 days.

The school at Mizzymead Road remains open to all other students.

A spokesman for the school said: “We have been made aware of a member of our school community who has tested positive for COVID 19.

“The notification that a student in Year 10 had tested positive was received by the school at 3.30pm on Monday afternoon.

“This has resulted in the Year 10 bubble isolating for a period of 14 days.

“For most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.

“The school remains open and your child should continue to attend as normal if they remain well.”

The school has seen a number of students forced into isolation since the start of the autumn term.

The entire year 8 group was asked to self isolate following a case last month.

A teacher also tested positive for the virus in November, with contacts being asked to stay at home.

Earlier in November, there was also a positive case in the year seven group, forcing a number of students to self isolate.
