Nails Inc, which permanently closed most of its manicure bars during the pandemic to concentrate on selling beauty products online and via other retailers, said it has seen strong sales growth.

The London-headquartered firm shut 11 nail bars, mainly concessions in department stores, since March last year, leaving it with one branch remaining in Selfridges.

The company has been focusing on product innovation, such as launching a new plant power vegan nail polish.

On current trading, founder Thea Green said: “We are seeing strong sales growth across all channels and markets, including web sales. We are seeing the highest growth in international markets.”

Green added: “We look forward to more innovation and further growth in the year ahead.”

Accounts just filed show the business recorded flat sales of £14 million in the year to June 2020, but it swung to a £266,285 profit from a £82,882 loss in the prior year.

Former Tatler journalist Green started the company in 1999.
