Nail-biting moment a massive Airbus A380 pulls off an incredible landing in fierce Storm Atiyah

Strong gale force winds meant a pilot had to make a very tricky landing as a storm battered through Manchester Airport.

A video clip captures the dramatic moment the Airbus A380 was rocking side to side while the pilot was trying to land in the gusts of wind.

The wings on the plane can be seen unsteadily moving left to right, as the Emirates plane touches the ground.

According to the Met office, gusts of up to 43mph were recorded at Manchester Airport on Tuesday, December 10, when the footage was taken.

The Emirates Airbus A380 is the world's largest passenger airliner. Despite the difficult weather conditions, the experienced pilot made the touch down look easy, the Manchester Evening News reports .

The video above was uploaded onto a YouTube channel called AviationUpClose.

Storm Atiyah has caused strong flurries of winds across England and Wales this week.

There have been power cuts in parts of the south-west of England and also in Wales too, and a total of more than 5,000 customers were cut off.

Storm Atiyah came in from Ireland on Sunday night, bringing gales that caused disruption to transport networks too.

Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill says: “The strong winds are pretty widespread.

“It’s very windy in the west and south-west so that’s where we’re going to see the greatest impact unfortunately.”
