Nail-biting footage shows family teeter along 300ft-high 'Giddy Edge' footpath

It's called Giddy Edge...and not without good reason.

This narrow footpath is just inches away from a 300 feet sheer drop.

Drone pictures show a family attempting a walk along the Derbyshire footpath.

With just a few sections of old metal handrail to hold onto this stairway to heaven overlooks the town of Matlock Bath.

In places the track is only inches wide and is part of a 2.4 mile walk around the Peak District although many walkers opt to skip this section.

One of the UK’s most dangerous pathways - walkers, no matter how seasoned, are often advised to avoid the path in windy and rainy conditions, while tourist chiefs say children and animals should be kept an eye on at all times.

Not every walker fancies the challenge.

One walker wrote on TripAdvisor: ‘Not suitable for children or indeed it turned out my husband!

"The path takes you along the edge of the cliff face with a very steep drop, which was too much for my hubby!!!!’

But for those willing to take the vertigo inducing pathway there is one bonus, there’s a bench at the end for a nice sit down.
