Nahitan Nandez comments on potential Leeds United transfer as speculation refuses to go away

Nahitan Nandez has poured cold water on a potential move to Leeds United after constant links from the Italian media.

The Cagliari midfielder has been heavily touted as a potential new recruit at Elland Road as the club seek to add another midfielder to their ranks.

However, LeedsLive understands that Nandez is not on Victor Orta's shortlist despite speculation which has been fuelled by the Italian press and comments from Nandez's agent.

The 25-year-old is currently away with Uruguay playing in Copa America and confirmed he's unaware of any contact over a move to Leeds.

"The Italian experience was very important for the tactical part, Italian football teaches you things that I did not know in other leagues, much of what I am putting on the field is thanks to what I have learned in Italy," he told Centotrentuno.

“I feel good physically, happy for me, for the team.

“The rumours about Leeds? I heard, but honestly, I don’t know anything yet and I have my head in the Copa and in reaching the goal.”

This latest development should not come as a surprise to any Leeds supporters, given the lack of concrete evidence around the reports.

Last summer, Rodrigo de Paul was the summer-long saga that rumbled on until deadline day, yet there was little substance behind widespread reports he was to arrive at Elland Road.

Andrea Radrizzani's ties to his home nation bring added speculation over potential recruits from Serie A but Nandez has never been on Orta's shortlist, as of today.
