CHENNAI: Nagarjun scored a brace (53rd & 58th) as Food Corporation of India thumped Sports Authority of India 6-1 in the CHA Super Division League match at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium here on Tuesday. In the other match of the day, Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu blanked Southern Railway 3-0.
Satheesh opened the account for FCI in the 5th minute and Thanga Pandian increased the tally four minutes later as the first half ended 2-0. Kabilan reduced the margin 1-2 immediately after the breather.
But the SBI’s couldn’t hold on to the momentum they created in the beginning of the second half and kept conceding goals at regular intervals. Pooviyarasan made it 3-1 in the 49th minute while Nagarjun scored the next two to take the match away from SBI.
In another one-sided match, SAI Tamil Nadu didn’t face any challenge from Southern Railway and enjoyed an easy outing with a comfortable 3-0 win. Sundara Pandi scored the first goal in the 6th minute and Shanmugam made it 2-0 in the 14th minute. Sathish scored the third goal for SAI Tamil Nadu in the 29th minute.
