Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt spark complaints over 'rude' Saturday Kitchen stint

"Rude" Saturday Kitchen guests Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt sparked 100 complaints after their "behaviour" towards host Matt Tebbutt.

Saturday Kitchen Live plunged into chaos last week when Naga and Charlie took over the hosting cue cards when they were appearing as guests.

Naga sparked a social media storm after her cheeky dig at the Saturday Kitchen host.

Now BBC has acknowledged viewers found the "behaviour and comments of the guests" to be "inappropriate" and "rude".

Behind the scenes, the broadcaster reassured viewers they had shared the feedback with the Saturday Kitchen team.

The BBC's statement read: "Saturday Kitchen Live’s format allows for an informal chatty style and the guests are encouraged to feel relaxed in the studio.

"Some viewers found the behaviour and comments of the guests this week to be inappropriate and that they were rude to presenter Matt.

"We appreciate the feedback and we shared it with the Saturday Kitchen team."

Social media was awash with fans throwing some serious shade at Naga after the scenes caused a stir.

Among the sea of comments, fans wrote: "What is actually Naga's problem? She is coming across as snarky, surly and they are making this show unbearable to watch. Constant jabs at Matt?"

"Anyone else finding Naga annoying?"

"They're totally taking over from Matt and putting him down."

"This is not entertaining to watch."

However, some fans of the show defended Naga's behaviour.

"You obviously don’t watch their handover from BBC Breakfast to Saturday Kitchen every week. It’s their ‘thing’ and happens every week and Matt generally gives as good as he gets."

Matt and chef Yotam Ottolenghi had invited BBC Breakfast presenters Naga and Charlie to taste their food but the show descended into chaos.

During the episode, Charlie and Naga joked Yotam should replace Matt as the host of the cooking show.

The TV host quipped he hadn't managed to ask them any questions leading to further teasing from the BBC Breakfast hosts.

Charlie read out as he took Matt’s cue card. "How do you cope with me putting Matt on edge?"

"Do you want to hear the second question? He’s worked hard on these. “How do you switch off? And, do you ignore the news when you’re not working?”

The Mirror has approached Naga Munchetty, Charlie Stayt and Matt Tebbutt for comment.
