Nadine Velazquez to star in NBC pilot filming in Chicago

Feb. 19--Nadine Velazquez has landed a starring role in the Chicago-bound NBC pilot, "Love is a Four Letter Word," according to her agent.

Deadline.com -- which first reported the casting news -- says the Notre Dame High School for Girls and Columbia College alum plays "Rebecca, a Cuban American who is deeply in love with Julie and very happy with their marriage, but doesn't realize her wife is actively considering getting back together with her ex, Nick." Velazquez is best known for her roles on NBC's "My Name is Earl" and FXX's "The League."

Deadline reported that Rockmond Dunbar will play Nick and fellow "Prison Break" alum Cynthia McWilliams, who graduated from DePaul, will play "Tandi, one half of a happy couple with a young son who is experiencing difficulties fulfilling her dream of having another child." Brian Tee ("The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift") plays Adam, "who is currently dating Sarah, a fellow attorney who shares his taste for sexual adventure," according to Deadline.

Chicago Film Office director Rich Moskal told my colleague Nina Metz that "Love is a Four Letter World" will begin filming in Chicago around mid-March. The show is produced by 20th Century Fox, which produces "Empire," the hit Fox series that also films in Chicago.
