Nadine Coyle tells Living With Lucy viewers that Girls Aloud split was a 'silly decision'

Former Girls Aloud member Nadine Coyle has revealed she believed it was a “silly decision” to split up the chart-topping group.

The 34-year-old Sound Of The Underground singer admitted she can’t even remember how the final call to end it all came about.

The star, from Co Derry, said: “We split up – we were together for a very, very long time. I thought it was a silly decision, I thought it was not smart, it wasn’t well thought out.”

When it comes down to who made the decision for the group to split, Nadine told how she hasn’t a clue.

She added: “I’ve no idea. They had put out a tweet, there was a chat. I can’t really remember, it was a long time ago.”

Nadine makes the admission to presenter Lucy Kennedy, on the upcoming episode of Virgin Media One’s Living With Lucy.

Asked if she has kept in touch with the other members – including Cheryl Tweedy and Sarah Harding – she said: “The band broke up and I didn’t socialise with the girls anyway, even when I was in the band.

“I just had more fun with other people. It was definitely a job for sure.

“I have spoken to Sarah but how often have you done a job like years ago, how often do you still keep in touch with some or all of the members of the people you worked with?

“We just have very different personalities as well.

“When your idea of having a good time are completely way off it’s hard to have a good time.”

Nadine, who recently split with boyfriend of 11 years Jason Bell, said their six-year-old daughter Anaiya believes every parent is famous.

She added: “She thinks everybody’s mammy and daddy is on the TV. I think she just assumes that’s what happens, that it’s the norm.”

And when it comes to people joking about her Derry accent, Nadine doesn’t mind as long as it’s not nasty.

She said: “It depends on what way they approach it. I think, ‘God I would never have the nerve to be that ignorant’.”
