Nadine Coyle's iconic moments as fans mark 20 years since Girls Aloud was formed

Today, November 30, 2022 marks 20 years since iconic band Girls Aloud was formed.

On this day in 2002, Cheryl, Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh, Sarah Harding and our very own Nadine Coyle were chosen as members when the group was created on Popstars: The Rivals.

To celebrate the group's anniversary, a special ‘Sound Of The Underground’ vinyl is set to be released, with an alternate vocal arrangement.

Here are some of Co Derry woman Nadine's iconic funniest moments throughout her time in the limelight to mark 20 years since the band was created!

Famous date of birth incident

Nadine's best known moment is probably when she lied about her age to get onto the TV talent show Popstars.

In an interview for the show, she accidentally let her real date of birth slip. She said: “Date of birth is the fifteenth of the sixth ’85, making me a Gemini.” This made her 16, when the minimum age requirement to be on the show was 18.

Nadine even pretended to search for her passport but eventually admitted what she had done and was sent home.

Nadine teaches Caitlyn Jenner a dance routine

The former Girls Aloud member took part in I'm A Celeb back in 2019 and struck a close friendship with US reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner.

In this iconic I’m A Celeb moment, Nadine taught Caitlyn, Adele Roberts and Jacqueline Jossa a dance routine for Girls Aloud’s song The Promise.

It has got to be one of the best moments of that series and can be seen HERE.

Working with flour

A classic clip from TV show Sunday Brunch went viral for Nadine’s pronunciation of “flour”, making it sound like “fleyur.”

And as she appeared on Celebrity Bake Off, it’s only natural that the iconic moment made a comeback.

Beach girl viral TikTok

In a viral video shared on TikTok, Nadine is walking along the beach and says: "I'd never really thought of myself as kind of a beach girl, I may have thought I'm a city girl, but I am, I'm both...

"There's just something special about living so near to a beach and having the water nearby. It's amazing."

Nadine Coyle has even poked fun at herself over the viral TikTok trend which mocks her accent.

Girls Aloud at the Buddhist temple

Back in 2006, Nadine and her bandmates in Girls Aloud travelled to China for a six-part TV series called Girls Aloud: Off the Record. Yes, really.

While there, they visited a Buddhist temple, where Nadine Coyle said she wanted to say a prayer. Explaining this, she said she didn’t know what sort of prayer to say in such a temple.

“But you don’t say a Hail Mary in here,” she added. The hilarious moment can be seen HERE.
