The start of Love Island was jam packed full of action and I’m all for it. Usually episode ones are long and drawn out, trying to introduce people and their back stories and cover as many potential storylines and sparks of romance as possible.
This time it was edge of the seat action. Sub-benches, pies and ‘Bevvies’ all in one amazing episode... Please don’t let Bevvies catch on. It’s too cringe. I can’t cope.
I am extremely impressed with ITV casting. This lot haven’t necessarily coupled up well, but there are some clear matches and some flickers of lurve already.
Most importantly Yewande and Callum need to spend time together and realise they are made for each other. Both lovely, genuinely sweet people with good intentions. Bravo ITV. We likey.
Unfortunately the chances of Yewande winning are slim to none. As in the last three series the black / mixed race person is picked last or not picked at all.
Remember poor Marcel? Yewande is going to need a great edit and some decent camera time for them to connect with her and ultimately vote for her.
It can happen but remember every single female winner so far has been a white brunette. Just keeping it real darlings. We must vote. She needs to stay in and WIN!!!!
Anton is a misogynist. Sherif could be a contender if he stays away from ‘bad influence’ Anton. Joe and Michael have final written all over them if they couple up well.
Moving on to the rest of the girls - Amber is savage. My mouth dropped when she walked in, she’s gorgeous! But calling Callum old and wrinkly at 28?! She is gonna be the diva this series and I’m all for it.
Lucie needs to follow her heart. The boys are on her. She mustn’t let her head get turned by the cheesy chat from the boys – stick with Joe. This could work out nicely as they are suited.
The twist at the end of the episode was amazing. Tommy Fury and Curtis Pritchard are the best addition to the villa. Fit, cute, and genuine.
I think this year there will be two distinct camps. Camp drama for the camera and Camp Real. Curtis, Yewande, Joe, Lucie are Camp Real. Micheal, Sherif, Amy are on the subs bench and could go either way. I’m backing Camp Real all the way!
Personally I do think this is a diverse group both in looks and personality and remember we have eight more weeks and loads more islanders waiting in the wings.
I think ITV could pull this out of the bag and have a bigger and better series than last year!
And of course, everyone is so happy The Flack is back, single, flirty, there is a lightness to her (not talking about weight before anyone starts) which is going to make it a great series. She seems more relaxed and her slow mo entrances will always be me in my head when I walk in anywhere.
