Nadal's walkover into Melbourne semis

Rafael Nadal has waltzed into the semi-finals of the Melbourne Park Summer Set without hitting a ball.

The 20-times grand slam champion received a walkover on Friday when his Dutch opponent Tallon Griekspoor withdrew.

Officials were initially unsure why Griekspoor couldn't take to the court.

Nadal will play Finland's unseeded Emil Ruusuvuori on Saturday for a place in the final.

Ruusuvuori earlier thumped Slovakian Alex Molcan 6-2 6-1.
