Nacon is one of the leading third party gaming hardware manufacturers, and are well known for some of their pro controllers. Their latest releases include the Revolution Unlimited Pro and Nacon Revolution Pro 3 controllers, compatible with the PlayStation 4.
Both are aimed at gamers that want that pro controller feel with the extra button customisation. Nacon knows how to do this and do it well. They both come with a fully re-mappable button layout, including the touchpad. While there probably isn't much call to reassign the touchpad, but the option is there if you want it.
To make your custom profiles you will need to download the Nacon software on PC. The software is very simple to use and gives you an outstanding amount of customisation on both controllers. The software will allow you to make profiles to fit the games you play but also adjust the trigger points or even the controller dead zones.

They also come with 4 preset profiles that are swappable on the fly by using the Profile button on the back of the controller. The controllers will let you know what profile you are using by the 4 LED lights at the front. These are also used for battery indication on the Unlimited Pro controller as it is also wireless, unlike the Pro 3 controller.
The Unlimited Pro controller has a battery life of about seven and a half hours but can be swapped into wired mode at any time to charge the controller while you play.
The controllers have three modes you can choose from. Firstly, a standard Playstation mode which does not require the PC to remap the buttons and does not allow you to use the profile system, but which does allow you to remap the back buttons whilst keeping the standard PS4 layout
Secondly, a Playstation mode that allows you to use the presets and one PC customised mode for use on the PS4. Finally, a pretty self explanatory PC mode to be used when playing on PC.

Both controllers have your typical mic input, but the Unlimited Pro controller also has volume and mute controls on the back.
Another very nice feature and one of the best on the market is the anti friction rings around the joysticks on both versions. There is barely any resistance, allowing for a very smooth movement of the joystick which is exceptionally welcome for racing and FPS games.
At this point, the controllers start to differ slightly, which accounts for their different prices.
The Unlimited Pro comes with a lovely matte finish and diamond grip on the back. This adds a more comfortable feel over longer gaming sessions and gives it a sleeker look. There are also adjustable weights allowing you to add or remove weight dependant on your preference.
Included are two sets of joysticks - curved and domed - for further customisation, and there's the Joystick ALPS system that lets you control the joystick movement range.

On the Pro 3 most of the functionality is the same the build finish is not. The Pro 3 has a shiny plastic finish to it that can make your hands hot during lengthy play sessions. Also, there are some minor touches are missing, like the touchpad not having PlayStation button print (something which adds a nice touch to the Ultimate version).
The Pro 3 does come with the adjustable weights but lacks the extra thumbsticks and the ALPS Joystick system.
The only drawback to these controllers is the extra buttons on the inside of the grips. Although they feel lovely to press and you get a good response from them, they are not raised enough and at times in the heat of a battle you can find it hard to distinguish which is which. Although you can get used to these over time it would be nice if they were raised or slightly separated.
Both the Pro 3 and Unlimited do an amazing job of customisation and feel with the weights and button remapping. In terms of potential preference between the two, this all depends on if you want wireless gaming and a slightly sleeker look or not. Both bits of kit give any other pro controller a run for their money, especially at their price point.
The Nacon Revolution Pro Controller 3 retails at £89.99 and the Nacon Revolution Unlimited Pro Controller is currently £109.99
