Nacho Monreal 'leaves' Arsenal and now Celtic face new Kieran Tierney bid

Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal has terminated his contract with the Premier League club - according to reports.

The potential departure could open the door for a renewed approach for Kieran Tierney.

Monreal signed for the Gunners back in 2013, and has since made 248 appearances, scoring 10 goals.

He found himself playing second fiddle to Sead Kolasinac for much of last season, however, often finding himself either on the bench or as part of a back three.

Though the 32-year-old was expected to stay and continue to battle for the left-back slot, reports originating from NBC's Arsenal correspondent Gerry Stuart he is finished at the Emirates.

Monreal's exit is still to be officially confirmed but the defender is expected to leave this summer.

It means that Arsenal will now be doubly keen to add a new left-back to their ranks, and should step up their bid to land Tierney, for whom they have already lodged an offer of £15million.

The Gunners have been at odds with Celtic over the valuation of the 22-year-old, with Celtic chasing £25m for his signature, but they now have extra motivation to put their money where their mouth is.

They have competition from Napoli for his signature.

Celtic, meanwhile, are in the market for a new left-back themselves, as Rapid Vienna defender Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo has been pictured arriving at Glasgow airport ahead of his £3m move to Parkhead.

It's unclear whether he has been brought in as a replacement in the event of Tierney's departure, but offers a solid alternative to the 22-year-old in any case.
