To the dismay of the public, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is once again pleading for more time in investigating the luxury watch scandal involving Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon, who failed to declare the expensive timepieces among his assets.
This time, the anti-graft body revealed some details from statements filed by the embattled deputy prime minister, considered the "big brother" of the military regime. In his statements, Gen Prawit insisted all of the timepieces spotted on his wrist were loaned to him by a friend who has since passed away. They are believed to be worth a combined 39 million baht.
Talking to the press on Thursday about how the case is progressing, NACC secretary-general Worawit Sukboon said the late friend was named as Pattawat Suksiwong, a businessman. He reportedly died early last year.
